Everybody I know wants to earn more money. It seems to be the subject of almost every book there is and magazines and articles in newspapers are constantly covering the subject. It is obviously a very interesting subject and one that everybody wants to know more about. People wonder how many ways there are to earn money. In the world as complex and fast-moving as ours is, you would think that there would be millions of ways to earn money. Possibly billions. I mean just think about it for a moment; only a few hundred years ago there was agriculture and shipping, printing was just coming into its own, and everybody marveled at each new technology from the train, electricity, the telephone, Wilbur Wright's airplane, et cetera.
Yet how many possible ways to earn money have been developed in the last month in our world? I don't know the statistic but it has to be enormous. I don't think anybody really knows the correct statistic. The number of patents, the number of inventions, the number of products, etc. is mind boggling. And look what our amazing capitalist system has created -- let's take the car for example. We recently bought a brand new Honda Odyssey minivan. What an amazing piece of technology! This thing has more cup holders and places to put things that I've ever seen in a vehicle. It drives on six cylinders when we need it and shuts it down to three when you don't to save gas. It has airbags in every possible location to reduce injury. It has sensors all over the place and rear air conditioning that points to every individual person.
It is astounding what has happened to the car in the last 100 years!
We can go on and on with example after example of what happened in every industry in the world. All of these things were designed by somebody, manufactured by somebody, marketed by somebody, sold by somebody, financed by somebody, repaired by somebody, and driven by somebody.
So, how many ways are there to make money?
The reality is there's only two. Yes, you read that correctly-there are only two ways to make money. The first one is the most common one and that is for people trading their time for dollars. That's how all these things are created and purchased is by people spending their time manufacturing designing and selling these items. The other way to make money is to invest money to make money. In other words money making money.
So when one case you give up your time to make money and is very difficult to make a lot of money doing it. You actually give up your life, or trade your life for that money. 96% of the population earn their money in this manner and they all wonder why they don't have enough time.
Investing money is a great way to earn money but you need an extensive education, or pay for someone that has an extensive education to survive this wealth system.
That's really it.
Bob Proctor talks about another way to make money and that is multiple sources of income. It's where you have various moneymaking entities sending you a check every month because you have some involvement in it. All the wealthy dating clear back to ancient Babylonians understood that multiple sources of income were the way to make real wealth. Robert Kiyosaki in his Rich Dad series teaches that the only way to make money is to have passive income exceed your expenses. His wonderful games Cash Flow 101 and 202 are phenomenal teaching tools for anyone interested in learning about this principle. The sources of money can be just about anywhere. Laurel Langemeir has a profound wealth creation system for people who want to get out of the rat race. I have watched her in seminars do an extreme financial makeover of anybody in the audience were in a matter of five minutes, she takes them from poverty to a degree of wealth by a few simple changes in their life.
All these things are real and exist right now in the world. Anybody can get out of debt if they really want to. The thing is that they don't want to or they are just too lazy to do anything about it. Oh, they may complain alright about their financial situation but they usually expect somebody else to do something about it. We constantly hear a never-ending drone on the TV about how the government needs to do more, or the rich need to do more, or society needs to solve this.
All these solutions are wrong. Taking money from the wealthy and giving it to the poor has never created a society that was desired. In fact it is only caused wars. I only know of three examples in history when the process of the wealthy giving to the poor had any positive effect, and it was because the people were righteous and living under a system designed by God. We don't live in those times.
What is also astounding to me is the number of welfare recipients who are fourth and fifth generation welfare recipients. They learn the habit of thinking in the same terms as their parents! Giving the money won't solve anything, but changing their thoughts can. Changing their beliefs and expectations is the only way to pull them out of poverty. But the politicians and social activists don't like to hear such phrases because that means that somebody actually has to do something, instead of forcing a rich person through sinister governmental laws to give up their money.
The issue really is a person's level of awareness. The person making $50,000 a year is not thinking the same thoughts as a person making $50,000 a month. A person making $50,000 a month is not thinking the same thoughts as a person making $50,000 a week. A person making $50,000 a week is not thinking the same thoughts as a person making $50,000 a day or an hour. Yet there are people in this world that make everyone of those levels of money. The reason is because they are aware of how to do it. And that's the only way that the poor can change their situation-to become aware of how to do it.
Earning money, saving money, spending money, are all habits. We just have to learn how to change the habits. We have to learn how to change the thoughts that lead to those habits. We have to change the beliefs that lead to those thoughts. No one will ever get rich any other way. Oh sure there are gangs, Mafia organizations and many dishonest people that become rich, but they live a terrible life. No one has to resort to those tactics to become rich. Everyone in the world can become as rich as they want. It's when we think in terms of lack and limitation that stifles our growth. It's by not being aware of how to make the money that they want to make and believing that they can make the money they want to make that stops them. Awareness and self-image, those are the two things that need to be increased for someone to make the money they want to make.
